DN Solutions Unveils AI Machining Cell at Robotworld 2026
South Korea's largest machine tool builder pairs five-axis machining with collaborative robotics to capture lights-out automation demand in North America and Europe.
DN Solutions unveiled an artificial intelligence-driven machining cell and automated robot tending system on Nov. 4, 2026, at the Robotworld exhibition in Goyang, South Korea.
The launch targets factory reshoring projects in North America and Europe, where manufacturers face industrial machinist shortages and rising wage overhead.
DN Solutions ranks as the world's third-largest machine tool maker by production volume, operating a global network across 66 countries. Automated turnkey cells carry gross margins roughly five to eight percentage points above standalone metal-cutting hardware, according to company sales data.
The exhibited setup links the DVF 5000 second-generation five-axis vertical machining center with COBOSOL, the company's proprietary collaborative robot automation package. The cell runs unattended cycles from raw billet loading to multi-axis cutting and finished part transfer.
The hardware architecture relies on an integrated high-torque spindle running at up to 15,000 revolutions per minute alongside rapid axis traverse speeds of 42 meters per minute. Eight thermal sensors compensate for structural deformation during unattended operation.
DN Solutions demonstrated precision cutting routines for cycloidal reducers, articulated joint casings and electric actuators. Those parts form the structural skeleton of humanoid robots and high-payload industrial articulated arms.
Industrial robot joints require machining tolerances below five micrometers. Traditional multi-setup milling often introduces alignment errors between independent machine tools during secondary clamping, said company engineers at the booth.
Running multi-face operations inside a single five-axis envelope eliminates manual repositioning. That configuration reduces total non-cutting cycle duration by 28%, the company said.
The machine builder also demonstrated two industrial software packages designed to monitor and program unattended factory cells without requiring on-site CNC programmers.
Its remote diagnostics platform, designated iDOO RMS+, collects real-time vibration, spindle load and operating status across connected shop floors. The software won the Vanguard grand prize at the 2026 Robotworld Awards on Nov. 4.
The system uses an embedded machine-learning model trained on equipment maintenance records. When abnormal chatter occurs, an automated troubleshooting assistant generates corrective operating parameters directly to the numerical controller, the company said.
Alongside the diagnostic software, the manufacturer introduced DN Virtual Simulator, a digital twin package that validates collision safety and calculates cutting cycle intervals before physical stock enters the vice.
North American and European job shops have accelerated purchases of pallet changers and articulated loaders as skilled labor pools contract across heavy industrial belts.
Commercial machine tool shipments to Western overseas clients now demand integrated material handling in over 40% of tendered orders, up from roughly 15% five years ago.
DN Solutions shifted its product roadmap to package computer numerical control machines with proprietary robotics rather than relying on third-party automation integrators.
Jung Dae-hyuk, vice president and head of the advanced control division at DN Solutions, outlined the transition on Nov. 4 during a keynote address at the International Robot Business Conference.
Manufacturing hardware is shifting from isolated mechanical systems into automated nodes governed by predictive software, Jung said.
The equipment builder has not disclosed the underlying robotic arm hardware manufacturer integrated into the COBOSOL turnkey cell, specifying only its proprietary solution brand.
Robotworld 2026 runs through Nov. 7 at the KINTEX exhibition center in Goyang, where commercial demonstration trials and technical sales discussions remain open to visiting international procurement delegations.
