HD Hyundai Samho said Sept. 28 it had begun construction of a commercial three-cargo-tank LNG carrier at its Yeongam shipyard, deploying an architecture engineered to expand payload and cut cargo boil-off.
The vessel expands cargo capacity to 176,800 cubic meters, adding 2,800 cubic meters over standard 174,000-cubic-meter vessels. That addition represents a 1.6% increase in transport volume across identical external hull dimensions, the shipyard said.
