Doosan Robotics and DEEPX develop AI nuclear welding robots

A 45-month South Korean state project targets a 50% cut in multi-layer cycle time at Doosan Enerbility, countering a severe shortage of skilled industrial welders.

Doosan Robotics and AI chip startup DEEPX launched a joint development program on Oct. 6, 2026, to deploy autonomous, vision-guided welding cobots across nuclear equipment fabrication lines.

The 45-month initiative automates multi-pass welding of five or more layers, aiming to reduce manual processing time by more than 50%. It pairs collaborative robot arms with low-power edge neural processing units.
