MP Materials begins shipping non-China magnets to GM plants
The Fort Worth facility will supply 1,000 metric tons of finished NdFeB magnets annually for 500,000 electric vehicles under a Pentagon-backed procurement deal.

MP Materials began commercial deliveries of sintered neodymium-iron-boron magnets to General Motors on Oct. 5, opening the first domestic permanent magnet supply line for North American electric vehicles.
The initial shipments mark the operational launch of a mine-to-magnet supply chain built to bypass Chinese processing hubs. China currently controls more than 90% of global permanent magnet manufacturing.
