Korean naval architects are now proposing standard export variants based on these proven hulls. The HDF-3200 and HDF-3500 designs offer navies the choice between conventional diesel layouts and hybrid electric machinery arrangements.

For Southeast Asian procurement offices, propulsion choices involve trade-offs between acquisition cost and mission profile. A combined diesel and diesel (CODAD) plant carries lower upfront machinery costs and simpler maintenance routines for regional ship repair facilities.

Hybrid electric configurations increase initial shipyard procurement costs due to high-capacity converters, propulsion motors and specialized switchboards. They also demand specialized shore training for naval technical ratings responsible for high-voltage power networks.

Operational cost calculations favor the hybrid layout over a thirty-year hull life cycle. Electric cruising burns less fuel during routine economic zone surveillance, offsetting initial capital expenditure through lower operational logistics requirements.
