Wonik IPS drew market focus on Nov. 6, 2026, as memory manufacturers expanded procurement of advanced atomic layer deposition equipment ahead of the toolmaker's scheduled third-quarter earnings release.

The Suwon-based equipment supplier will publish its preliminary third-quarter consolidated earnings on Nov. 9. Wonik IPS disclosed the reporting schedule in an earnings notice filed Oct. 30 with the Financial Supervisory Service.

Consolidated revenue stood at 216.5 billion won ($157 million) in the second quarter, down 10.6% from a year earlier. Operating profit dropped 49.6% year-on-year to 18.4 billion won, the company said in an August filing.

The operating profit delivered an operating margin of 8.5% for the second quarter. Consolidated net profit reached 89.9 billion won ($65 million), rising 225.2% year-on-year because of valuation gains on corporate investment assets.

Bookings earlier in the year provided operational momentum heading into the second half. Wonik IPS recorded 627.5 billion won ($455 million) in new orders during the first quarter, leaving an order backlog of 400.4 billion won.

Thin-film deposition machinery accounts for the bulk of Wonik IPS's commercial shipments. The company manufactures atomic layer deposition (ALD) systems — tools that apply chemical precursors one atomic layer at a time to coat microscopic silicon circuits.

ALD tools are essential for depositing high-k dielectric materials — specialized chemical compounds that hold electrical charge inside DRAM storage capacitors without letting current leak through thin cell walls as circuit dimensions shrink below 12 nanometers.

Memory manufacturers are directing capital expenditure into advanced production lines rather than building new capacity for legacy chips. Samsung Electronics is converting production space at its P4 fab in Pyeongtaek to manufacture cutting-edge DRAM architectures.

SK hynix is carrying out a parallel tooling program at its M15X fab in Cheongju. The memory maker is reallocating capital toward advanced memory nodes required for high-bandwidth memory modules used in artificial intelligence accelerators.

Wonik IPS provides both plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition and ALD systems to those facilities. The company has delivered more than 1,800 thin-film systems and 1,050 diffusion systems across its operating history, according to corporate product disclosures.

The supplier's HyEta ALD platform targets capacitor dielectric formation and gap-fill steps in memory chips. The system uses spatial separation technology with dual pumping to coat narrow hole patterns with aspect ratios reaching 50 to 1.

Beyond DRAM, memory producers are transitioning 3D NAND flash memory to vertical architectures exceeding 300 stacked layers. That design shift requires specialized deposition tools capable of coating tall memory hole channels without creating voids.

Extreme vertical stacking introduces structural stress that can deform silicon wafers during fabrication. Wonik IPS markets the CUARTO deposition platform to address warpage and gap-fill challenges across multi-stack NAND flash production lines.

The technological demands of sub-12-nanometer DRAM and 300-layer NAND have polarized semiconductor tool procurement. Memory makers have curtailed spending on conventional wafer fabrication tools while sustaining capital commitments to advanced thin-film deposition equipment.

That selective spending patterns benefit domestic suppliers with established qualified tool positions at major memory producers. Wonik IPS competes against global equipment makers in supplying critical thin-film deposition lines to South Korean fabrication plants.

Sustaining that market position requires continuous research spending. Wonik IPS maintains two development laboratories in Gyeonggi province, holding 795 patent applications and 761 registered patents worldwide as of October 2026, according to corporate laboratory records.

Independent securities analysts anticipate a sharp sequential recovery in third-quarter revenue on the back of tool shipments to domestic fabs. Samsung Securities projected third-quarter sales of 334.3 billion won and an operating profit of 53.0 billion won.

SK Securities projected third-quarter revenue reaching 401.1 billion won, citing accelerating deliveries of memory deposition equipment. Both brokerages pointed to advanced DRAM conversions and NAND upgrades as the primary drivers of the projected rebound.

The regulatory filings do not disclose third-quarter earnings figures or standalone ALD order values, which remain unpublished until the company submits its preliminary report. The manufacturer does not publish separate revenue totals for individual customer accounts.

Wonik IPS will formally release its third-quarter financial results on Nov. 9, in line with its Oct. 30 regulatory calendar notice. The filing will provide the first verified measure of how advanced node conversions supported equipment revenues.
