Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited deployed commercial repair operations on Oct. 5 at its new 8,000-square-meter battery facility in Oslo, Norway, following its late-September inauguration.

The Chinese battery manufacturer, which holds 39% of the global electric vehicle battery market, established the site as its largest aftermarket service center outside Asia.

The Oslo facility shifts after-sales support from complete battery pack replacements to targeted cell and module maintenance, the company said.

Norway provides the testing ground because battery electric models took 98.7% of its new passenger car registrations in August, according to official registration data.

Electric buses accounted for more than 60% of new bus registrations in Norway during the same month, the company said.

That concentrated fleet creates immediate local demand for state-of-health diagnostics, module-level repairs and second-life battery sorting as older vehicles age.

CATL cut turnaround times for complex pack repairs from 72 hours to 48 hours at the facility, using automated robotic diagnostic tools.

The center provides precision deep repairs for 76.8% of electric vehicle models currently operating in Europe, according to company technical specifications.

Technicians track pack repair histories through CATL's Intelligent Eagle Eye System, a digital platform deployed across more than 150 maintenance centers worldwide.

Repairing damaged cells rather than discarding full packs reduces owner repair bills and insurer write-offs, the company said.

CATL previously set a commercial benchmark to lower major battery repair expenses tenfold, dropping costs from 100,000 yuan ($14,800) to 10,000 yuan ($1,480).

European operating partner YES-EU Group manages on-site logistics, mechanical handling and technical staffing for the Oslo hub under a long-term commercial agreement.

The facility also functions as a regional showroom and sales agent for CATL-powered hardware, including electric boats and commercial industrial machinery.

Electric aviation developer AutoFlight and robotics manufacturer Galbot sell equipment through the center under agency contracts with CATL's service unit.

The hub anchors technician instruction across 39 European countries, supported by 14 factory-certified training specialists based at the facility.

The site supports recycling preparation under the Global Energy Circularity Commitment, which CATL operates with the Ellen MacArthur Foundation.

Local disassembly allows CATL to recover cathode and anode materials directly inside Europe, addressing strict European Union recycling efficiency mandates.

The facility will test retired automotive packs for stationary energy storage systems before sending degraded modules to regional shredding partners.

Automakers selling in the Nordic market face mounting regulatory pressure under the European Union Battery Regulation, which requires digital battery passports by 2027.

Direct diagnostic access gives CATL control over state-of-health metrics, cycle counts and material composition logs required by Brussels regulators.

Major customers such as Volkswagen and Tesla account for substantial shares of Nordic electric fleets that use CATL cells.

Servicing those vehicles directly allows CATL to gather real-world degradation data across sub-zero Scandinavian operating conditions.

CATL plans to open its next European flagship service hub in Turkey before Dec. 31, 2026, executive Bruce Li said.

Additional corporate service centers are planned for France, the United Kingdom, Spain and Portugal as CATL pursues 10,000 global locations by 2030.

CATL has not published capital expenditure figures for the Oslo facility, and corporate filings do not document a separate Oct. 5 regulatory filing following the Sept. 24 opening ceremony.

## Impact map
