BYD scheduled customer reservations for its all-electric Denza N8 sport utility vehicle on Oct. 22, 2026, targeting China's luxury electric vehicle segment with a certified 1,003-kilometer driving range.

The model carries a 130.15-kilowatt-hour lithium iron phosphate battery pack. That capacity represents one of the largest power packs fitted to a mass-production passenger vehicle in the Chinese market.

Reservations open on Oct. 26 ahead of commercial deliveries planned for November. Denza general manager Li Hui published the rollout calendar on social media platform Weibo.

The vehicle enters China's premium automotive bracket. Domestic rival Li Auto and German manufacturers BMW and Mercedes-Benz hold roughly 60% of that segment, which covers sport utility vehicles priced above 300,000 yuan ($42,100).

BYD wholly owns Denza after acquiring the remaining 10% stake held by Mercedes-Benz earlier in the decade. The brand serves as the automaker's primary vehicle to extract higher profit margins.

Regulatory documents filed with China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology outline the technical foundation. The filings list the five-seat vehicle at 5,150 millimeters in length, 1,999 millimeters in width and 1,820 millimeters in height.

The wheelbase measures 3,075 millimeters, matching executive-class luxury dimensions. The footprint places the electric vehicle directly against long-wheelbase German utility imports.

The vehicle utilizes the proprietary e-Platform 3.0 Evo architecture. That framework integrates high-voltage electrical hardware to improve structural rigidity and lower assembly overhead.

FinDreams Battery, the wholly owned battery manufacturing unit of BYD, supplies the cells. The subsidiary manufactures the proprietary second-generation Blade Battery using lithium iron phosphate chemistry.

The chemistry uses iron and phosphate instead of nickel and cobalt. The formulation lowers raw material costs while improving thermal resistance during rapid high-voltage electrical cycles.

The ministry granted type approvals across two distinct battery sizes. A 105.792-kilowatt-hour pack provides baseline endurance, while the top-tier 130.15-kilowatt-hour configuration delivers maximum range.

Regulators recorded four distinct certified driving figures under the China light-duty vehicle test cycle. Ratings span 800 kilometers, 840 kilometers, 970 kilometers and 1,003 kilometers depending on powertrain configurations.

The vehicle uses a proprietary flash charging system. The electrical layout allows the battery to charge from 10% to 70% in five minutes under optimal conditions, the company said.

A charge from 10% to 97% takes nine minutes, the company said. Extreme cold testing at minus 20 degrees Celsius adds three minutes to the charging curve, the company said.

Regulatory records establish three distinct electric motor configurations. Rear-wheel-drive editions feature a single permanent magnet electric motor generating either 320 kilowatts or 370 kilowatts.

The flagship all-wheel-drive edition introduces an e3 triple-motor arrangement. A front motor rated at 270 kilowatts works with two independent rear motors rated at 310 kilowatts each.

The three motors combine to produce 890 kilowatts, equivalent to 1,193 horsepower. The regulatory notice caps top speed for the flagship trim at 240 kilometers per hour.

The heaviest tri-motor variant posts a curb weight of 2,860 kilograms. The high mass reflects the dense physical casing and cell volume of the 130.15-kilowatt-hour pack.

The all-electric model replaces a previous hybrid vehicle. BYD originally introduced the nameplate in August 2023 as a plug-in hybrid with six-seat and seven-seat layouts.

The company halted production of that earlier vehicle following weak domestic deliveries. The redesigned version moves entirely to pure electric propulsion, sharing exterior design cues with the larger six-seat Denza N8L.

The passenger layout focuses on a spacious two-row configuration. The front cargo trunk, located under the hood, provides 205 liters of dry and wet storage.

Rear passenger seats recline up to 146 degrees. The interior configuration attempts to capture Chinese executive buyers who travel with personal drivers.

Denza's expansion marks an effort by BYD to elevate vehicle selling prices. The parent company dominates mass-market entry segments where vehicles sell below 150,000 yuan ($21,050).

Price competition in budget segments compressed corporate gross margins across Chinese automotive factories this year. Expanding Denza output allows the parent company to capture higher revenue per delivered vehicle.

The vehicle also supports BYD's global export strategy. Denza showcases products at international automotive exhibitions across Europe and Southeast Asia to prepare distribution networks.

Customer pre-orders open nationwide on Oct. 26 through digital brand stores. Showroom display vehicles began arriving at metropolitan dealerships this week.

The Oct. 22 announcement did not state pre-order pricing or specific November delivery dates, and the company has not published advanced driver-assistance configurations across trims despite regulatory images showing roof-mounted lidar.
