BYD Company disclosed on Nov. 1, 2026, that its monthly battery electric passenger vehicle sales reached 305,743 units in October, crossing the 300,000 threshold for the first time.

The volume marked a 37.38% increase from 222,559 battery electric cars delivered in October 2025. It made up 63.28% of the automaker's 483,125 total passenger vehicle deliveries during the month.

Total deliveries of new energy vehicles reached 490,168 units in October. That figure stands as the automaker's highest monthly sales total recorded in 2026, according to the regulatory filing.

BYD assembled 488,104 new energy vehicles in October, rising 13.56% from 429,808 units a year earlier. Deliveries exceeded assembly output by 2,064 units during the month.

October marked the third consecutive monthly delivery record for pure electric passenger cars. Volume grew 11.94% from the 273,143 battery units delivered in September.

Factory assembly lines reflected that momentum. Factory output of pure electric passenger cars rose 38.76% year-on-year to 304,424 units, up from 219,382 units assembled in October 2025.

Deliveries of plug-in hybrid passenger cars dropped 17.23% to 177,382 units during October. The volume fell from 214,297 hybrid vehicles handed over to buyers in October 2025.

Hybrid assembly contracted alongside showroom deliveries. The company built 176,788 plug-in hybrid passenger cars during the month, down 13.67% from 204,792 units in the prior-year period.

The divergent figures point to an operational pivot across domestic production facilities. Battery electric vehicles formed 62.37% of total vehicle production in October, while hybrid models accounted for 36.22%.

International deliveries drove a large portion of the expansion. BYD exported 170,194 new energy vehicles in October, surging 102.80% from 83,920 units shipped abroad in the same month last year.

Foreign shipments accounted for 34.72% of total group vehicle sales in October. That export ratio expanded from 18.99% recorded in October 2025, according to calculations based on company disclosures.

Foreign deliveries eased when measured against the preceding two months. October exports dropped 5.81% from 180,700 units in September, marking a second straight month of sequential decline.

Overseas shipments had peaked at 189,466 vehicles in August 2026. October volumes sat 10.17% below that level as ocean freight schedules and distribution hubs adjusted intake.

The commercial vehicle division posted 7,043 unit deliveries in October. That volume represented a 45.22% increase compared to 4,850 commercial vehicles sold in October 2025.

BYD built 6,892 commercial vehicles in October, up from 5,634 units in the same month of 2025. The category accounted for 1.44% of total group sales.

Within the commercial segment, bus sales totaled 791 units during the month. Bus assembly reached 791 units, matching delivery numbers exactly, according to the regulatory filing.

Non-bus commercial vehicles, including electric light trucks and specialized vocational units, reached 6,252 deliveries. That subsegment expanded from 4,475 units sold in October 2025.

Through the first 10 months of 2026, BYD delivered 3,621,744 new energy vehicles. Cumulative sales fell 2.16% compared to 3,701,852 vehicles sold during the same stretch in 2025.

Group vehicle assembly across the ten-month period totaled 3,627,050 units. Factory output tracked 0.45% lower than the 3,643,377 vehicles assembled in the first 10 months of 2025.

Passenger cars accounted for 3,561,669 units of cumulative 2026 sales. That volume trailed the 3,655,718 passenger vehicles delivered between January and October 2025 by 2.57%.

Pure battery electric passenger deliveries rose 5.86% to 1,935,700 units over the ten-month span. The volume rose from 1,828,462 battery units delivered in the prior-year period.

Pure electric passenger car production reached 1,940,439 units from January through October. Assembly grew 7.95% over the 1,797,558 battery vehicles manufactured during the comparable 2025 timeframe.

In contrast, cumulative plug-in hybrid passenger deliveries fell 11.02% to 1,625,969 units. Factory assembly of hybrid vehicles decreased 9.43% to 1,628,555 units over the same period.

Commercial vehicle deliveries provided counter-cyclical growth across the ten-month period. Cumulative sales gained 29.8% to 60,075 units, up from 46,134 vehicles in the prior-year period.

Total commercial vehicle output reached 58,056 units between January and October 2026. The figure marked an increase of 21.5% compared to 47,737 commercial vehicles built in 2025.

The volume shifts accompanied steady earnings growth. BYD reported third-quarter revenue of 221.49 billion yuan ($31.1 billion), up 13.59% year-on-year, in its Oct. 29 quarterly filing.

Net profit attributable to shareholders rose 28.02% to 10.00 billion yuan ($1.40 billion) during the quarter. Higher export margins and an expanded pure electric mix supported the gain.

Over the first nine months of 2026, operating revenue totaled 502.25 billion yuan ($70.5 billion). That represented a 5.2% advance from 477.30 billion yuan reported in the 2025 period.

The voluntary filing does not state the country-level destination breakdown for the 170,194 overseas shipments, and the company has not published export volumes by vehicle model.

BYD will file its unaudited November production and sales report to the Hong Kong stock exchange on Dec. 1, 2026.
