BYD detailed global technical specifications on Sept. 27, 2026 for its ETT 44 electric tractor, entering a 1,000-horsepower Class 8 commercial hauler into European road freight corridors against Tesla.
The 44-metric-ton tractor carries a 651-kilowatt-hour lithium iron phosphate pack. That battery represents roughly 45% of the vehicle's 11.12-metric-ton unladen curb weight.
BYD rates operating driving range at 600 kilometers under a 40-metric-ton cargo payload at constant highway cruising speeds of 70 kilometers per hour. Fleets can also specify an optional 434-kilowatt-hour battery configuration.
The tractor incorporates commercial flash-charging hardware engineered to accept direct-current charging rates of up to 1.5 megawatts. That charging speed replenishes the battery from 20% to 80% capacity within 20 minutes, adding 400 kilometers of range.

The vehicle enters the market as European transport operators face stiff decarbonization rules. European Union mandates require commercial vehicle manufacturers to lower fleet-wide carbon emissions 45% by 2030 and 90% by 2040.

The company has not published retail sales prices or European delivery deposits for the ETT 44. BYD has also withheld specific wholesale pricing for its 1.5-megawatt depot charging terminals.
